Preschool Training Program

The Integrated HighScope Preschool Program at Little People applies the Active Learning educational approach, following the training standards established by The HighScope Educational Research Foundation, which has been continuously researched and improved since 1970 in Michigan, USA. This approach integrates and delivers curriculum content based on the framework of Vietnam’s National Preschool Program, with enhancements and updates.

For Nursery (Children Under 36 Months)
Implementing HighScope’s Active Learning method at the nursery level supports parents in providing optimal care for their child’s physical, cognitive, and language development during this critical growth period. Through multi-sensory experiential lessons, children are encouraged to make choices in their daily activities and play, helping to maintain their innate curiosity and enthusiasm for exploration.

To build confidence in engaging with the world, the program incorporates outdoor learning experiences, field trips, and seasonal celebrations. The HighScope philosophy emphasizes strong school-home connections, with dedicated and caring teachers fostering a trusting and positive relationship with children, ensuring that they feel happy and excited about going to school. Additionally, the school provides one-on-one practice sessions to support children’s language development and motor skills, ensuring age-appropriate growth.

For Preschool (Children of 36 Months and Older)
The curriculum fully integrates the eight key learning domains of the HighScope Preschool Program (USA) with the Vietnamese Preschool Education Standards set by the Ministry of Education. These domains include:

  • Approaches to Learning;
  • Social and Emotional Development;
  • Physical Development and Health;
  • Language, Literacy and Comunication;
  • Mathematics;
  • Creative Arts;
  • Science and Technology;
  • Social Studies.

HighScope Standard-Based Classrooms
Our classrooms are designed according to HighScope standards, fully implementing processes and assessments from the HighScope Organization. With the primary goal of “Brain Builder – Developing Intelligence”, the program aims to cultivate in children a readiness to learn, a strong academic foundation, and an independent learning mindset. Additionally, children are encouraged to maximize their creativity through interdisciplinary projects following the STEAM model, integrating subjects such as Math, Science, Art, and Technology based on HighScope standards. This approach enables them to engage with innovative educational models in their weekly lessons.

The core focus of the HighScope program is Active Learning, where children are at the center of all educational efforts. From lesson design, which is personalized based on individual learning data, to teaching methods and teacher-student interactions, the goal is to foster self-reliance and respect for each child’s unique perspectives. Through the Active Learning method, children gradually develop essential thinking skills for the modern world, including creativity, self-awareness, and the ability to express, reason, and defend their viewpoints.

The Plan-Do-Review cycle (Planning – Doing – Reflecting) helps children think and play like young adults, enabling them to plan their activities, engage in purposeful play, and then reflect on their experiences to draw valuable lessons. The integrated HighScope program is an excellent choice for families who embrace modern educational thinking and seek to nurture independent, opinionated, and intellectually capable children.

Outstanding Features at Little People
Beyond the core program, Little People offers extracurricular activities that extend learning beyond the classroom. These include emotional management lessons, social science modules, and STEM-based science projects that integrate with the HighScope curriculum. Such activities broaden children’s understanding of people, objects, and phenomena while helping them connect classroom knowledge to real-life situations.
Primary Readiness Program
Another key objective of the core curriculum is to lay a strong foundation for Grade One through a structured Pre-Primary Program. Beginning in the Preschool (Chồi) class, the school supplements children’s learning with language development activities, fine motor skills exercises, and hand-strengthening tasks through coloring and finger movements.

Additionally, critical thinking math is introduced to enhance logical reasoning and prepare students for the next level. By the time children reach the Kindergarten (Lá) class (age 5), they begin learning the alphabet, understanding letter formation, tracing letters, and developing fundamental mathematical thinking—ensuring they are fully prepared and confident for Grade One.
