Exploring the recycling model with our little 3 classes
What an exciting field trip it was for our Little 3 classes! The children visited Hikari Center, where they joined a hands-on journey to explore the organic waste recycling model and learn about sustainable living.
Right from the very first stop, the little explorers received their own “Green Passports” to begin the adventure. Here, they learned how to sort waste into different categories — organic waste, recyclable waste, and residual waste. This simple yet meaningful activity helped them understand that protecting the environment starts with small actions every day.
Continuing their journey, the children discovered how organic waste is processed, especially through Compost technology— turning waste into nutrient-rich fertilizer for plants. They also met some “tiny warriors” — the black soldier fly larvae! Though a bit hesitant at first, curiosity soon took over, and they eagerly observed how these little creatures can “turn trash into treasure.”
The adventure didn’t end there! The children moved on to the fish-feeding area and later visited the “chocolate factory”, where they learned how a sweet chocolate bar is made — and even got to taste it fresh!
The field trip wrapped up with laughter, excitement, and valuable lessons. The children realized that every small action — picking up trash, sorting waste, saving resources — helps make our Earth greener and cleaner.
